What We Use to Wash Your Clothes (and Why)

One of the most common questions we get from customers is simple: "What do you actually wash my clothes with?" It's a fair question. You're trusting us with the clothes your family wears every day, and for anyone with sensitive skin, allergies or little ones at home, what goes into the wash matters just as much as how it's washed.

So here's the full rundown — every product that touches your laundry, and the reasons we chose it.

Our Detergent: Earthwise or Earth Choice

Every load we wash uses either Earthwise or Earth Choice laundry liquid. Both are trusted Australian brands, and we chose them because they strike the right balance between cleaning power and being gentle on skin and fabric.

Earthwise is a plant-powered detergent made with naturally derived enzymes. Enzymes are what break down everyday grime like sweat, food and body oils, so clothes come out properly clean — not just rinsed. Its light orange and eucalyptus scent leaves laundry smelling fresh without being overpowering.

Earth Choice is an enzyme-powered ultra concentrate that's dermatologist approved and tough on stains. Because it's concentrated, a small amount goes a long way, which means less product sitting in your fabrics after the rinse.

Why We Chose These Brands

Gentle on skin: Both detergents are made with plant-based and naturally derived ingredients, which makes them a better fit for sensitive skin, babies' clothes and anyone who reacts to harsher detergents.

Effective cleaning: Plant-based doesn't mean weak. The enzymes in both products lift stains and odours in everyday loads, so your clothes come back genuinely clean.

Kind to your clothes: Gentler formulas are easier on fabric fibres and colours, which helps your clothes look newer for longer, wash after wash.

Better for the environment: Choosing plant-based, naturally derived formulas means fewer harsh chemicals going down the drain with every load we wash.

Fabric Softener: Fluffy (Only If You Want It)

For customers who love that soft, fresh-from-the-laundry feel, we add Fluffy fabric softener to the rinse. It softens fibres, helps reduce static and leaves clothes with a light, clean scent that lasts.

That said, fabric softener is completely optional. Some people prefer their laundry unscented, some have sensitive skin, and some items — like activewear, towels you want maximum absorbency from, and certain technical fabrics — are actually better without it. If you'd rather skip the softener, just let us know when you book and we'll leave it out of your load.

Stain Treatment: Vanish Oxi Action

When we spot a stain while sorting your laundry, we pre-treat it with Vanish Oxi Action stain remover spray before it goes into the wash. Pre-treating gives the stain remover time to work directly on the mark, which makes a big difference compared to relying on detergent alone.

We use Vanish because it's one of the most reliable stain removers available, it works on a wide range of common marks like food, drink, grass and makeup, and its Oxi Action formula is colour safe for use on most washable fabrics.

We'll always do our best with stains, but some — especially older ones that have been through a dryer or set in over time — may not come out completely. If there's a particular stain you're worried about, point it out when you drop off or book, and we'll give it extra attention.

Soaking: Biozet Attack

Some laundry needs more than a quick spray — heavily soiled workwear, grubby kids' clothes, or items with stubborn, set-in marks. For these, we soak them in Biozet Attack before washing.

We chose Biozet Attack because its +Stain Power formula is made for strong, fast action on stubborn stains. Soaking gives it time to work deep into the fabric and loosen dirt and grime that a normal wash cycle alone might leave behind, so the main wash can finish the job properly.
